Study for CySA+ v3 or v4?

People who are pursuing CompTIA’s CySA+ certification are stuck with a bit of a decision right now. Do they study for v3 and take the test earlier? Or do they wait until v4 is (probably) released this June?

CompTIA’s CySA+ page only says that the new version will be released sometime in 2026 and that it will be roughly 3 years after the last release, which was June 2023. So, do they plan on June? July? Or will it be later?

Last night I was looking for the new Sybex CySA+ Study Guide found that it is scheduled for release on July 21. CompTIA’s “Train the Trainer” sessions for the new exam are scheduled to take place across all of June. Both clues lead indicate that the CySA+ (CS0-004) exam will be released in late July. Probably on the 21st, if I have to pick a date.

So do people wait for the new test or just go for the soon-to-be-retired exam? I passed the CySA+ exam a couple of months ago and waiting wasn’t worth it for me. I might have made a different choice if I was starting on it today.
